The Speckle View Imaging Technology developed by Dynamic Light is modular in its design and consists of an integrated set-up involving a red laser, a digital camera, and the patented software, which performs the image processing that reveals the blood flow images. To capture the blood flow, all that surgeons need to do is to illuminate the surgical field with harmless laser light, and capture video images with a camera. The software offers automatic, dynamic visualization control which further simplifies the physicians’ task. In instances where clients want to use their own cameras and illumination, Dynamic Light can provide the software as a standalone product. Microscope manufacturers can also adopt the software as an add-on to their product line. “We are in discussions with companies that already have installed surgical imaging platforms upon which Speckle View technology can be licensed and used with little or no hardware modification,” mentions Pagliaro.
